Although his role hasn't been officially confirmed, Chris Meloni is currently filming a new movie in Columbus, Ohio. I am Wrath is an independent action thriller starring John Travolta as "a man out for justice after a group of corrupt policemen are unable to catch his wife's killer." Meloni plays the supporting role of an old friend who runs a barbershop. Yesterday, he received some on-the-job training at a local barbershop:

I guess it was Tight Jeans Day in Columbus yesterday. :D

The film has a relatively small budget ($10 million) and is scheduled for release next spring. There is a spoiler-heavy synopsis of the movie's plot here.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] melonirocks and Twitter's @marchriska for putting the clues together!

*****
ALSO, a heads-up--White Bird in a Blizzard, one of Meloni's films from last year, is now streaming on Netflix.

AND....

Last week, the MPAA gave Lee's new movie Tooken an R rating for "crude sexual content throughout including graphic nudity, language, violence, and some drug use." Woot! Regardless of how good the film is, it sounds like Lee probably had a great time making it! LOL

Unfortunately, no, this is not a story about what Meloni did on Fire Island back in 1999. *g*

Earlier this week, Chris tweeted this photo of himself:

Then, later that day, actor Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep) tweeted this photo:

....  with the caption "Gettin' drunk again! @drunkhistory @Chris_Meloni"

Drunk History is a show on Comedy Central that re-enacts scenes from American history using narrators who are drunk, and apparently Meloni will be on an upcoming episode. I watched some clips of the show on Comedy Central's website, and while it might not be for everyone, I found it clever and rather hilarious (but maybe it's my love of American history combined with a weird sense of humor).

Anyway, something to keep an eye out for! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] melonirocks for finding the Tony Hale tweet!

Netflix announced that Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp will be released on July 17th. Mark your calendars, fondle your sweaters, get rid of your crabs, and cut down those campers from the ropes course.
So much to do, so little time.

"Meloni is August, a secretive mercenary who walks a tightrope between survival and morality."
The series premieres in 2016, but sounds intriguing.

It's all about a group of slaves trying to stage a daring escape. The lovely lady in the image is Jurnee Smollett-Bell.
Hmm..Lee can be his secret lover, please and thank you?

(I'm running out of ideas for headlines for these announcements. :D)

Lee made a surprise appearance on ABC's "Castle" last night, reprising his role as Marcus Gates (from a 2010 episode) in a nice, lengthy scene. Gates is in prison now, so it was just like old times for Lee.

I took a bunch of screencaps, and then couldn't decide which one(s) to post here, so I've gone ahead and included them all, LOL. (He looks so good!)

It was announced yesterday that Lee has signed up for "a major stint" on the new season of Defiance, a "dystopian alien drama" on the Syfy channel, to air in the summer of 2015.

Lee will portray "General Rahm Tak, a ruthless, arrogant leader in the Votanis Collective who sees Defiance, now free of Earth Republic oversight, as a symbolic target in his unrelenting pursuit of power. A Castithan, Rahm is a well-read, brilliant strategist who imposes his army upon the town with decisive force."

Woot! Ruthless, arrogant, well-read, and brilliant! A little bit of something for everyone! That's our Lee!

Most of the other parts of the description went over my head, but Google Images tells me that a Castithan looks like this:

Isn't Lee a big fan of the original Star Trek? I think I remember reading that somewhere. It sounds like this show could be a lot of fun for him.

Official announcement and more info can be read here and here.

Well, better late than never...  Lee has had a small guest-starring role on the last three episodes of the FX series American Horror Story: Freakshow, which airs on Wednesday nights at 10:00 pm EST. It isn't really clear yet whether his storyline is over or if he might appear in future episodes.

Here's Lee in a FX promotional photo with actress Grace Gummer (Meryl Streep's real-life daughter), who plays his daughter on the show:

Last week's episode included a scene with Lee that all Oz B/K fans will probably appreciate. I've included screencaps behind the cut, but WARNING: they are very spoilery.

Whoops! Apparently, Lee was on Monday's episode of "The Blacklist," looking good and rugged in a plaid flannel shirt:

another (possibly spoilery) promo photo behind cut )

Luckily, you can still catch the episode here on NBC's website.

ALSO, according to Twitter's @conjja, Lee's episode of "Hawaii Five-0" will be on tomorrow night (Friday, October 17) on CBS at 9:00 EST. Unfortunately, he's not shown in the trailer or promotional photos for the episode, so he might not have a very big role.

AND, Amazon will premiere all 10 episodes of the second season of Garry Trudeau's political comedy series "Alpha House" on Friday, October 24, exclusively on Amazon Prime Instant Video. According to IMDB, Lee will appear in episodes 3 and 4.

BUT WAIT, THAT'S NOT ALL! Meloni announced this week that he has a brand new web-based show, called "Beef." (LOL, I know--insert your own beef joke here)

Here's Meloni, looking BEEFY:

more of Meloni's beef behind the cut )

The first episode will be available on iTunes beginning November 11, and it will supposedly also be available on Hulu, CCDigital, Crackle, and MTVDigital at some point as well.

Whew! I think that's it for now!

Yesterday, Broadway World posted a story about the premiere of the new ABC series "Forever," and guess who was listed to be a guest star for the pilot episode? LeeEEEee! ABC is airing the episode on Monday, September 22, at 10 PM (EST), which creates a direct conflict with the Season 2 premiere of NBC's "The Blacklist," in which Lee is also scheduled to appear. So much Lee! Luckily, ABC already has the pilot epiosde of "Forever" available for viewing on their website here, so you can watch it now.

Care to guess what type of character Lee plays in "Forever"?

Here's a photo of Lee taken last week in Honolulu, from the Instagram of ryankalei:

"Spending the day working along side Lee Tergesen. An amazing down to earth actor who's been in nearly 100 TV shows and movies."

hawaii50

Ryan Kalei didn't name the project, but he mentioned in another photo posted the same day that he was on a set receiving direction from "the original Robocop," i.e. Peter Weller. According to IMDB, Weller's directed a few episodes of Hawaii Five-O, so (putting 2 and 2 together), I'm surmising that Lee is going to be in an upcoming episode. Maybe? (Weller's also directed a few episodes of Longmire, but that's filmed in New Mexico.) Something to keep an eye out for anyway.

(And, boy, it's great to see Lee getting so much work lately!)

If you remember, last summer Lee appeared on a few episodes of the A&E television show Longmire.  This week, he reappeared on the show in a brief scene, and I'm pretty sure he'll be in more episodes based on the storyline and the references to his character.

Even though he was in just the one scene this week, he REALLY made the most of it.  I took screencaps of the scene and have posted them here at my LJ.  Here's one to whet your appetite:

You can watch the entire episode on Hulu here.  Lee's scene occurs at the 20-minute mark. A&E will also re-air the episode on Sunday morning at 11 am (ET).

Yay! Lee is going to star in a comedy film! It will be nice to see him play something other than The Psycho Bad Guy Who Meets a Violent Death!

It was announced yesterday that Lee had been cast in the film "Tooken," a "Naked Gun"-like spoof of the action movie "Taken." He will play the role equivalent to that of Liam Neeson (who is currently filming "Taken 3," by the way), so Lee should be the main focus of the movie.

Filming starts next week in LA. (I guess it was his turn to travel to see Chris. Heh.)

From Deadline:
______________

The Americans and Longmire thesp Lee Tergesen (Monster, Wayne's World, Point Break) has a particular set of skills, which Elevative Entertainment has tapped for its upcoming spy comedy spoof Tooken. The Naked Gun-style send-up of the actioner Taken, sees Tergesen play the Liam Neeson role as “Bryan Millers,” with Lauren Stamile (Scandal, Grey's Anatomy, and the upcoming USA series Complications) as his ex-wife, and Laura-Leigh (We're the Millers, The Client List) playing their daughter Kim. Reno Wilson (Mike & Molly, Transformers: Age of Extinction), Joyce Bulifant (The Mary Tyler Moore Show), and Ray Abruzzo (The Sopranos, Last Vegas) round out the cast. Actor-turned-director John Asher, who co-starred with Tergesen on USA's Weird Science, is at the helm of the film which begins lensing in LA next week. Asher co-wrote the script with Cameron Van Hoy, who is producing alongside Kelly Noonan. Tergesen is repped by The Gersh Agency. Noonan is a client of Paradigm, which is selling North American rights.
______________

I like how they plan to tap his "particular set of skills." I hope it's the same set of skills that I'm thinking of. :D

Lee is going to be on the TV show "The Americans" on FX, beginning next Wednesday, April 2, at 10:00 PM (eastern time).  He indicated on Twitter that he is going to be in "a bunch" of the show's episodes.

Here is a promotional photo of him from next week's episode:

No word yet on whether he's a good guy or bad guy, but the promo for the show implies that he is "dangerous."  Woo-hoo!

Chris is coming back to New York to visit Lee promote "Surviving Jack," which premieres one week from today, March 27, at 9:30 pm Eastern Time on Fox.  (Note the timeslot change from 8:30 pm.)  He is currently scheduled to appear on the "Late Show with Seth Myers" tomorrow night (March 21), as well as "Live with Kelly and Michael" on Wednesday morning (March 26).  I'm guessing there might be other appearances not yet announced; if so, I'll edit this post to include them.

Last weekend, Chris attended Cinequest (a film festival in San Jose, CA) for the premiere of his upcoming movie "Small Time:"

While there, Chris received the festival's Maverick Spirit Award.  As you can see in the pic below, he was pretty excited when he got the award.  Or, ya know, at least part of him seemed to be.  ;D

(Credit to Twitter's @marchriska for the Meloni photos)

ALSO, according to IMDB, Lee is the star of a new 14-minute short film called "Into the Dark" that is going to be shown at a couple of small film festivals taking place in Georgia next month:  the Classic City Film Festival (April 5th in Athens) and the Milledgeville Film Festival (April 25-27 in Milledgeville).  It is an action/suspense/thriller story of "Two men, strapped back to back, on a journey from Moon to Earth."  So if you're in that area, here's your chance to see Spaceman Lee!

(Too bad it's not Lee and Chris who are the ones strapped back-to-back, because that would be awesome.  Or, strapped front-to-front, because that would totally work for me too.  Heh.)

Back on February 24, Lee attended the season 2 premiere of FX's "The Americans," looking all nice and scruffy (and rather distinguished with the shorter, graying hair!).  Perhaps he will be making an appearance on the show at some point?

Chris was busy at the Sundance Film Festival last week, promoting two of his upcoming films.

First up was "White Bird in a Blizzard," where he showed up for interviews and a photoshoot looking like The World's Sexiest Farmer:

Lee will be doing something that has to do with The Following, starring Kevin Bacon, when the series returns in January 2014.

One place is reporting it as "joining the cast" while another says "appearing on," and another one says guest-starring. (Thanks for doing the legwork, Google alerts!)

But -- all of them promise "intense times." So there's that.

Here, have some totally random Lee in leather pants.

That are sadly too big for him. Next time go for the skin tight ones kthx!

In case you missed it on Twitter.... Lee was interviewed for the podcast, "Monsters of Talk," by Margaret Cho and her podcast partner.  (It seems like Margaret Cho has become quite the Lee fangirl since his appearance on her show Drop Dead Diva.)  You can listen at the link, or download and listen to it off iTunes.

https://twitter.com/MonstersofTalk/status/351732171716833281

It's nearly 90 minutes in length and starts off kind of slow (IMO), but it picks up considerably about half-way through when Lee talks rather candidly about drug use and his family.  Later, he tells a sweet story about Tom Fontana, recaps the GLAAD kiss, and briefly discusses the penises on Oz.  So, there's some interesting stuff in there!

He also mentions that he will be appearing on the show "Longmire," but it's not clear if it's as a guest-star, a recurring role, or what.

FOX has ordered five new comedies, including something with the working title of "Surviving Jack," based off of Justin Halpern's book "I Suck at Girls," which is a coming-of-age story about a boy and his father in '90s Southern California.

Tidbits:

Christopher Meloni stars as the father, while "Scrubs" and "Cougar Town" favorite Bill Lawrence is on-board as executive producer.

Add'l cast includes Alex Kapp Horner, Connor Buckley, Claudia Lee, Kevin Hernandez, Tyler Foden.

Team: W/EP Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker (S#*! My Dad Says); EP Bill Lawrence, Jeff Ingold; D Victor Nelli
Studio: Warner Bros. Television, Doozer Productions
Format: Single-camera

Well... it's been a long time since I've seen Meloni be comedic on purpose so... yay! And Bill Lawrence is a happy bonus, and I look forward to lots of face-pulling and fatherly chats. snort

Also, take a look this bit of hilarity regarding SVU's 'supposed jab' at Meloni regarding that house in CT that he's trying to unload. I mean, Bill Butler even gets in the mix ;)
