A little film that's creating a big buzz has been announced for RELEASE! )

tl;dr
"Quirky indie comedy" HELENA FROM THE WEDDING arrives on DVD March 8!!

Woo hoo!!

[identity profile] slip-f18.livejournal.com
I got a chance this weekend to watch "Helena from the Wedding" on my cable TV company's On Demand service and have recorded it.

However, I haven't had much of a chance to make clips and screen caps. Also, [livejournal.com profile] tobyfan is working on a write-up, so we should have some extensive additions to LT.com this week.

In the meantime, I did a quick-and-dirty cappage of some key Lee frames. Enjoy!

You can read it and hear it!!

I had only a minute to listen to a bit, but what I heard/read, the transcript does not catch everything they say.

Thanks, twinions, for pointing this one out. HEY, you know you guys can post this kind of stuff here too, right? *g*

MINOR SPOILERS.

From Gordon and the Whale, by Lauren Lester. 4-9-10

It’s no secret that I immensely enjoyed HELENA FROM THE WEDDING (you can read my review of the film here) at this year’s SXSW festival. So you can imagine it was a real treat for me to be able to sit down with two of the male leads from the film, Lee Tergesen (HBO’S Oz) and Paul Fitzgerald (FORGIVEN).

Hi guys,

This is my first non-comment post on this community! Yikes, I am so nervous since I have been lurking for literally years.  I actually just made this LJ account, but some of you may know me as @schonfille over at Twitter ( I like to think I had a small part in getting that bubble blooper, thankyouverymuch).  Anyway, I love you all and all of your posts so very much.  A new Helena From The Wedding review just popped up  on my Google Alerts. I think I got to this one before the director did, even.

It is here: smellslikescreenspirit.com/2010/03/helena-from-the-wedding-review/

It's terribly written (reading all these badly written Helena reviews makes me think I could have a career in film reviewing if that's all it takes), but the casts gets some love from the reviewer:

The acting performances are all perfect – each of the eight cast members achieving very high levels of naturalism. This flawless ensemble cast knows exactly when they need to be subtle – relying on silent facial expressions rather than words – and when it is appropriate to emotionally explode.

That's good news for Lee, right? Not that we're surprised.

Last week, I tweeted at Paul Fitzgerland, another Helena actor, asking him when we're going to be able to see Helena in NYC (yes, I live there, and yes, I am selfish). On Saturday, he replied, "screening this week I think for perspec dist here in NYC. Will put out word" I am crossing my fingers that the prospective distributor likes it. I asked him to keep me informed, and I will let you all know if he says anything.

There's a few pictures of Lee in a Facebook photo album for "Helena From the Wedding."

See the SXSW 2010 album here!

Air hockey anyone!?

Okay, so it's an interview with the director, Joseph Infantolino, but there are some interesting parts about shooting the film, etc.

Minor spoilers (general plot stuff).

And there you have it. *g*
I was telling [livejournal.com profile] severina2001 that I hope this movie gets great reviews and is picked up for distribution or perhaps even comes to Toronto as a TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) entry. Yes, please!

So, I'm house/dog/chicken-sitting in Vermont for a couple of weeks, and did you know that there are some parts of the country that still don't have broadband? Yeah, that's where I am. So unless there's something amazing that doesn't take 18 years to load, I won't be posting much.

Anyway. I feel like there hasn't been much news lately, about either of them. And we'll take what we can get, right?

So...

Lee is on U.S. TV tonight in an episode of "Cupid," titled The Great Right Hope. Lee plays a character named Clint, who is (a) a boxing instructor and (b) a sperm donor!

Also, I just visited Lee's IMDb page and discovered a new movie credit, in addition to filming "Red Tails," he also is filming something called "Helena from the Wedding," to be released in 2010!

And now for something completely beautiful: Here's a pic I just found during a Google photo search:
Blue is definitely his color. The caption says, "Actor Lee Tergesen attends the Armand de Brignac tasting at The Eldridge on April 2, 2009 in New York City."
