Time for an update!

Season 2 of the sequel to "Wet Hot American Summer" (which has morphed into "WHAS: Ten Years Later") is now available on Netflix! Chris Meloni appears as Gene in 4 of the 8 episodes, and a refrigerator once again plays a role (as does a can of vegetables):

Much more Meloni news here behind the cut! )

Whew! OK, enough about Meloni! On to LeeEEEeee!

In all the excitement of the recent Oziversary Fest, I missed that HBO's website posted a new interview with Lee (and another with Dean Winters) discussing Oz's 20th anniversary. Both interviews are fascinating, Lee's particularly so. Check them out!

Lee Tergesen Sees Horror and Romance in Oz
Dean Winters on the Lessons That Still Ring True

Some of the most notable quotes from Lee's interview:

  • The funny thing is, when I was in my early 20s, I used to get drunk and get naked in bars all the time, and now all of a sudden I was going to be paid to get naked -- I was like, alright.

  • So many people have said to me that [the B/K] relationship, as twisted and weird as it was, gave them courage to be truthful about who they were. To have that kind of impact on somebody means a lot. Also, I got propositioned. I couldn’t tell you how many people wanted to have sex with me.

  • All of a sudden people would have religious beliefs that kept them from showing their penis. Chris Meloni and I were always trying to do the thing that hadn’t been done. There was excitement, like, “I’m the one who gets to bite the d**k off.”

  • The scene started and I realize I’m about to get on my knees and blow this guy on screen -- I gotta get out of here now. I start to make my way out and just as I’m getting to the door, I hear the scene play and the crowd goes apes**t.

(LOL at HBO's website feeling the need to censor the words "dick" and "shit")

Also, as a reminder, Lee and Dean are going to perform a stage reading of a new Tom Fontana play ("Screenplay by Stalin") on August 18 at the Williamstown (MA) Theatre Festival. (I previously posted details HERE.) Austin Pendleton (Oz's William Giles) was also recently added to the cast. Myself, [livejournal.com profile] tobyfan, [livejournal.com profile] miltil,  and [livejournal.com profile] shabby86 are all planning to SQUEEeeeEEE be there. We have extra tickets, so if anyone wants to make some last-minute arrangements to join us, that would be OZSOME. The more, the merrier!

So, Chris is currently in New York City busy with pre-production duties for "Happy!," the SyFy pilot he is exec-producing/starring in. But apparently he's not so busy that he doesn't have time for visiting old friends! First, he went out to dinner with Lee, and then last night he posted this AWESOME pic to Instagram:

chris dean tom reunion

Now, I don't know what the three of them consumed talked about, but BOY was Meloni riled up afterward, because he got on Twitter and proceeded to tear Trump a new one. Which isn't something entirely new for Chris, because he's been tweeting anti-Trump things for months, but he really went after Trump (aka "a fucking dick") with a vengeance this time. He also started replying to hate-tweets from Trump's supporters, even telling one of them to "eat me u fucking idiot troll" (which actually made me laugh and laugh, because in my head all I could hear was Chris Keller going "fuck you, ya fuck").

THEN, the BEST part came, when he decided to post a shirtless mirror selfie to help promote the "Resist" hashtag:

It garnered so much attention, that "Chris Meloni" started trending nationwide. This morning, Mashable posted a story about the whole thing, complete with copies of some of Chris's more colorful tweets.

Whew! Maybe his scary, angry Stabler/Keller persona wasn't entirely acting!

I also hope the guy in charge of SyFy's programming isn't a Trump supporteer.

These are "new" pics of Chris and Lee with their agent Bill Butler on the set of Oz during the filming of "Cuts Like a Knife," taken from Bill's Instagram. There are couple of other behind-the-scenes pics floating around on the web that were taken this day, but not these two.

Some interesting stuff has been going on lately concerning the guys! So here are some updates on Several Various Things! Consider us your one-stop shopping destination for all your Leeloni fandom needs!

A new trailer for the new TV show "Outcast" was just released, and it includes an appearance from Lee. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] miltil for the heads-up!) The series debuts on Cinemax on June 3. (Although, unfortunately, IMDB indicates that Lee is only in the first episode.) Here are a couple of screencaps of Lee AND his Glorious Hair, as well as the trailer itself:

More LEE stuff! AND some LEELONI stuff! )

In Meloni news, "Underground" aired its season finale Wednesday night. Chris gave a couple of good interviews to The Wrap and Time this week to promote the episode. I know it's been difficult for some people to find access to this show, but the entire first season will be available on DVD on June 14. In case you still need Reasons to watch, I suggest you take a good look at this new behind-the-scenes photo that was released this week:

I recently stumbled upon some old pics of Lee and Chris on Facebook that were taken by a couple of fans at the Season 6 DVD signing event in 2006. I believe they're "new," in the sense that they've never been posted anywhere else before now.

This one of them together just about killed me:

As I posted here before, Chris recently appeared on Bravo's "Inside the Actor's Studio." For those of you who missed the show or were unable to watch it (and for posterity's sake, as well), I transcribed the portion of the interview where James Lipton and Chris talked about Oz. It was actually a nice, lengthy segment, almost equal to the time they spent discussing SVU:

In addition, they showed several photos of Chris when he was young, including these ones with his father and mother:

More never-before-seen photos of young Chris that were shown during the interview can be seen HERE.

Scheduled to air tomorrow (Thursday) night from 8:00-9:00 ET on Bravo is the interview that Chris taped earlier this month for the prestigious "Inside the Actor's Studio."

There are six short clips from the interview available for viewing on Bravo's website, including this delightful one HERE where he's asked about choosing between Mariska vs. Lee. (I think everyone already knows the answer to that one!) Apparently, the clips do not work for some international viewers, so someone was nice enough to compile all six clips together and post them on YouTube (the Marsika vs. Lee clip comes at the 4:05 mark):

The actual interview lasted over 2 hours, with an additional 30 minutes or so where Chris took questions from students in the audience, so it's been edited significantly to fit the hour-long (plus commercials!) timeslot on Bravo. HERE on tumblr is a detailed write-up describing what was discussed in the interview from someone who attended the taping. At some point, Chris also talked about filming the New Year's Eve kiss with Lee.

Meanwhile, Meloni's new show "Underground" continues to air on Wednesday nights on WGN America, and I must say that I've been really impressed with the show and highly recommend checking it out if haven't already. It's very much an ensemble cast, so Chris doesn't have a lot of screen time (not yet, anyway), but he's done some wonderful acting in what scenes he's had, and the show in general is very well done. WGN America is a pretty small cable channel that isn't available in many areas, so if you can't watch it on your TV, you might want to try watching it online:

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] macaroncey (THANK YOU!), who found the following photo on Instagram, I have discovered that Lee spent last weekend filming a new comedic short film called "Norman Pinski Come Home." He plays a mad scientist/Dr. Frankenstein-type character named Dr. Vanderwal:

Oz Magi 2015 is now OPEN for wishes!

For those not already aware, [livejournal.com profile] oz_magi (aka Operation Put a Shank in Everyone's Stocking) is an annual holiday season gift exchange of fan fiction and fanart, and it is one of the highlights of the year for every Oz fan! This will be the 12th (TWELFTH!) consecutive year that the fest has been held, and it has been an important part of keeping this small fandom alive and kicking.

All the details can be found here at the sign-up post. Requirements are deliberately low to encourage participation (only a 500 minimum word count for fic), and new fish are very welcome! The sign-up period ends at midnight on Friday, October 23.

Come one, come all!

Yesterday, Steven Wishnoff (aka Tony Masters) tweeted this old photo of himself with Lee and Chris. (It was in a direct reply to someone, so it wouldn't have shown up on your Twitter feed if you follow Steven.)

It seems familiar? But maybe I'm confusing it with this photo, which was obviously taken the same day:

Well, regardless, it's fun to look at it anyway! So young! So hot! So happy! Because they're thinking about their plans after work!

BTW, Steven also tweeted this cool photo from the old Oz set of the infamous laundry room:

... is now available on iTunes and OnDemand! (It is also scheduled to be released in select theaters on October 24.) Go watch!

Because how else are you going to watch Meloni jerk off to porn?

Oh, wait, nevermind...

I feel like I should write one of those "compare and contrast" high school English essays.  :D

So, if there is one good thing about "Surviving Jack" being cancelled, it's that I doubt Meloni would be tweeting selfies of his package if he were still on a network television show.

@Chris_Meloni: I will stare at ur genitalia until u feed me...

I think this community needs a "Package of Life" tag.  ;D

And.... our Random Moment of Leeloni Squee for the summer comes courtesy of Lee's niece, Kacie (whose father is Lee's brother, Chris Tergesen, the music supervisor on Oz) and a podcast she does each week with a couple of friends where they rehash old episodes of Pokemon.

ALSO, Lee mentioned that he was about to start work on "Alpha House," the comedy series available on Amazon Instant Video that stars John Goodman and was created by Garry Trudeau (of Doonesbury fame). He didn't specify whether it was one-time guest-spot or something bigger.

Last week, Chris was on The Sam Roberts Show on SiriusXM radio as part of his ongoing promotion of Surviving Jack.  The interview was OZSOME and full of SERIOUS SQUEE, since Sam Roberts is apparently not only (1) a pretty big Oz fan, but (2) a bit of a Leeloni shipper.  Once again, thanks to Twitter's @melorgitay for the link:

Meloni interview with The Sam Roberts Show

For some reason, I had problems getting the interview to play on my computer and was only able to listen on my mobile device.  So, in case this is a problem for others (and also for the sake of posterity), I transcribed the best Leeloni bits and have included them behind the cut. This was also a great excuse for listening to the interview 20 times.

Chris was also interviewed on another SiriusXM radio program (The Jason Ellis Show), which included this great Leeloni segment, courtesy of a caller:

Meloni on doing a gay love scene

Caller:  Being that you were with Beecher, what did it take, as an actor, for you to cross that barrier to be able to do those make-out scenes?
Meloni:  Yeah, you know, oddly enough... so I kissed Lee Tergesen, and, you know, I had relationships with him quite often.  And then we'd go to work and do it.  (laughs)

At least, I think it's new? I've never seen it before--it's not on my Season 4 DVDs!

With Steven Wishnoff tweeting a bunch of his old Oz photos, I got to wondering what he's been up to since the show. I did a Google search and came across some videos that Steven has posted to Vimeo. One of the vids is a deleted scene from "The Blizzard of '01" (episode 4.13--right after Keller is sent to Cedar Junction). It contains about 40 seconds of new footage of Lee/Toby talking with Steven/Tony and it is OZSOME:

ETA: Argh! Apparently, I can't embed the video because of Steven's privacy settings! So, just click on the link. Here's a screencap of Lee instead:

Lookit Toby with his sad puppy dog eyes missing Keller! ♥ ♥ ♥  I want to hug him and tell him it'll be all right!  Even though it won't! Heh. Also, I think this would have been the only time Steven actually had real dialog on the show?

Anyway, I was just thrilled to see this! New canon material! Even if it's only 40 seconds worth! It's nothing particularly earth-shattering, but I think it's interesting to note that this is also the episode where Toby meets Katherine McClain (*grrrr*) and gets called a faggot by that jackass "Colonel" podmate of his. Putting these pieces together, it almost implies that Toby's attraction to Katherine may have been some kind of defensive reaction to being identified as gay by others. Maybe? Just thinking out loud. Because I'm kinda excited by this discovery! And I always hated Katherine!

(Sorry for the exclamation overload in this post!!!!!!)

Today, as promised, Steven Wishnoff tweeted a couple of old photos, including this one of Chris practicing good hygiene in a rather unsavory restroom on the set of Oz:

Love the empty paper towel roll hanging on a wire.  Seriously, could no one figure out how to load the towel dispensers?  It all reminds me of a few sketchy gas station restrooms that I'd rather forget. Maybe the Oz restroom had a condom dispenser, too.

I also wondered why in the world Steven had been taking pictures inside the men's room, but then I realized, to quote Keller, "I would have thought that was fairly obvious."  LOL

As you may remember, a few months ago Steven Wishnoff (aka Tony Masters on Oz), tweeted a squee-worthy, never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes photo of Chris and Lee lounging on the set of Oz.  Well, yesterday he exchanged tweets with the awesome [livejournal.com profile] melonirocks indicating that he had "WAY MORE" pics from the show, specifically "boxes of them."  He then went on to say:

Apparently, he wants to get to 500 followers (he currently has 364).  So, it would be OZSOME if more peeps started following @stevenwishnoff (and maybe let him know why), in hopes that we might be able to see more of these old photos he has!  (Didn't Neal Baer do something like this when Lee was guest-starring on SVU?)

Yesterday, Steven tweeted this old pic of Harold Perrineau and a couple of crew members.  Although not as exciting as Chris and Lee in pre-cuddle formation, it's still pretty cool to see:

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] melonirocks for the heads-up!
