I totally thought the Tumblr was you, so maybe others will, too, and you'll get the credit anyway. And yes, I am angry enough to shank someone over the disappearance of the Oz HBO page!
I totally thought the Tumblr was you, so maybe others will, too,
Oh noes! I think that might be even worse!
Oh well. I think the one that bugs me the most is the caption that says "My sources named this link “Lee = Robert Plant?”"
"My sources"? If you go that far, you can at least say what the source was. I know there are some pics there that are all over the Web (including my own photobucket) and their original credit is lost. But there are some fan-taken pics that should get their due, too.
I guess I'm used to LJ, where we make effort to cite where we find stuff, even so far as to say "as xyz ljuser posted..."
They have a little blurb for 'about the show' and also an episode guide. Yay, Canada.
Also, I think you're totally in your rights to be crankypants about that, and all of the artists who made the icons that are posted are within theirs, and the fans who took the pictures, ask first!, and I agree that there should be credit, too. I'll try to leave a comment. *fumbles way around tumblr*
Also, regarding the tumblr... It's not so much ask first as at least say something like "I found these at such-and-such a place and thought I'd share."
Please excuse my *shakes fist at universe* moment.
I understand getting upset about this, but as an avid tumblr user I just have to say that no one is claiming ownership to the photos they post on there. They are just posting them. But if things are being posted that were found in places that explicitly ask that they are credited if used or posted elsewhere, then that I understand. But no one is ever saying oh hey check out these great pics of mine. They're just posting what they find. It is not done to offend or ignore the work of others, it's usually because people find things and don't even really KNOW or remember where they came from. They just save them when they come across it, and however long later when they go to post it they have forgotten the source. But I would probably get upset too if it was me. Idk I hope I don't offend you by saying all that, I just am sure whoever's running that didn't even realize they were in the wrong in what they did. I'm sure it was unintentional.

I understand that. Happens all the time. This instance just reeks more of "don't care" rather than "don't know." *shrugs*

I'm sure of this too. That's another reason it's annoying. Good thing is, they'll lose interest soon enough. Strikes me as an "oooh, shiny!" type of thing.
That's crazy, why on earth would they take it down now? Yeah the show ended a number of years ago, but it still has reruns playing on the 101 and therefore is still likely to be pulling in new fans. Hell, I only found the show this past fall. They are crazy to take the site down now. Crazy.
I am sorry you are getting ripped off. The core fan base knows how hard you work on your site and how well you keep us informed. Maybe you should write to them? You could ask for credit where credit is due or ask them to stop using your stuff. *hugs you* Yours is a far better and far more serious site. The other one looks like it is probably just a flash in the pan. My 2 cents :)
I emailed HBO last night in regards to where our beloved OZ page went, so hopefully someone will respond soon. Maybe everyone should email 'em in droves, see what happens.
I was appalled, too, on seeing OZ had vanished from the HBO site. I hate this new, revamped site. There were so many interesting texts at the 'Six Feet Under' section and great pics. Now there are a few pics and little more.
You should mail those tumblr people. That site looks like it's done by clueless preteens.

Date: 2010-04-22 02:36 am (UTC)Also? Since I made this post, I have found another thing to aggravate me: http://fuckyeahleetergesen.tumblr.com/
I've never felt overly proprietary or a credit whore, but this pisses me off, on behalf of my own work and that of others.
*am crankypants tonight*
