Lee- he was so sweet... so naive...
May. 4th, 2010 08:17 pmHey guys!
Got in last night and took he day to recover from the trip but I have lots to say about the show and the boys (including Lee kissing me on the neck..."rapture!!!")
Epic Long Post Warning.
So I'm trying not to recap stuff that's already been talked about, although both my title and the 'rapture' are references to Lee's parts in the play which i expect to see all over the place. The play had so many quotables. Heheeee. I really hope a transcript leaks online at some point for those of you who couldn't see it so that you can at least read it and imagine the hilarity.
I had the most amazing time. We (wrstlgirl- aka Merrily- and I) got to the theater and met Trillingstar, Vicki (?), Diane and Colleen right away. I'm so sorry that I can't remember everyone's names but it was so crazy and hectic. I have to say everyone was so lovely and wonderful. We had the best time.
Colleen and I sat together for the first show. We played with the dolls, which were hiding out in her purse, and we talked about covertly recording the audio from the play (I so hope that came out!) and we pretty much just gushed until they came walking out, at which point the whole place went apeshit, cheering and whistling. The show itself was incredible. I have to say... in all honestly I was expecting it to be horrible or cheesy but, really, it was so freaking funny. And God knows I love Chris but, really, it was totally Lee who made the show. He completely stole it. Even the jokes that were aimed at him were made better by his reactions to them.
The play had obvious nods to the fans of Chris and Lee, with hilariously sexual overtones. There was a lot of whistling and catcalling. It was great. ("Look at the size of his penis!!!" "Leeeee!! You know how I like it..." "Charlatan!!!!" )
Lee came out after the first show ended and he took us to this restaurant for drinks. It was so surreal that he was just sitting there, talking to us like it was totally normal. Someone noted that it was like Exodus and we were following Moses down the street. Like we were his harem. It was true. You have to picture it in your mind. And it was so funny cause there was one lone guy with us. In this gaggle of women, there he was. Cheers to him.
Lee was truly one of the most gracious celebs I've ever met. I've met a few and let me tell you--- most are assholes. He was amazing. He took pictures, talked to each of us individually, and made a point to really include everyone. He rubbed my shoulders, which was like... Guh! Lee Tergesen. Rubbing my shoulders. "Rapture!!"
Life was looking pretty up at that point.
He called one of the british girls' friends all the way in Australia and talked to her on the phone for like 5 minutes. It was so funny and i hope to see the video someone took of it up soon.
Anyhoo, I was feeling a bit bummed out because when the first show ended, a bunch of us were being physically led out by one of the ushers but a lot of people got to stay inside and take pics with the guys. It wasn't until I snuck myself back in that I saw it and by that point it was too late. They were still hanging around but I was too far away to be able to get many good pics. and to top it off, my camera died right in the middle. So I walked back up to the top of the room and bumped right into Tom Fontana! We talked for about 2 or 3 minutes before a few other people started swarming him. Him, Zeljko Ivanek and Eamon were all at the top of the room so I sort of lucked out getting stuck up there. Zeljko was so funny because he was eating a sandwich at the time and seemed genuinely surprised that anyone wanted to talk to him. I love him... he's been in everything. He was shy and happy to talk.
Eamon smelled really good. And I had no idea he was actually british. His accent was sexy as hell.
Tom was really cool. He asked me what my favorite part was and I told him all the Chris/Lee stuff, of course. He asked if I was sticking around for the next show and I told him I was and that there were a bunch of us that had come from everywhere so we wouldn't miss it. I told him he made a beautiful Julianna Margulies and he said he always knew he would and laughed.
Before the next show, I went over to the store and bought some new batteries for me and another girl. I prayed they'd all be taking pictures again and I knew this time to book my ass to the front of the stage and wait.
After the second show, they didn't pose for as many pictures, but we got some. Chris Meloni actually shook my hand and asked me how I liked the show. He thanked me for coming out and stood and talked with all of us for a few minutes. He actually went over to Andy Rooney (how weird was it that he was there??) and shook his hand and they talked for a minute while people took pics around them.
Dean came over. He put his arm around me and posed for pics.
We all ended up going to the after party at the East Side Social Club. I got to announce Tom Fontana into the room! It was so amazing! I announced him and tapped the rim of his hat. He looked all shy but quickly got hugs and applause from everyone. He was standing behind me at the door (it was soooo packed! We couldn't even walk in for a few minutes). All the gals had gone into the back room but Tom and I headed for the bar on the other side. The bar was packed and everyone was waiting for the bartender to acknowledge them. He looked at me and said, "who do you have to blow to get a drink around here?!" I said, "Maybe Dick Wolf?" He laughed... (it's a reference to the play- Chris mentioned he got the SVU part because he blew Dick Wolf).
We made our way into the back room and I went to sit down at our table and who is sitting right beside us? Chris, Lee, Chris's wife and Lee's girlfriend and a couple of friends of Sherman's. I mean, we sat right with them. I listened to their conversations, although i tried to be stealthy about it. Chris likes his martini to be, "extra, extra, extra, extra dry" or else he won't drink it. He and Lee talked about getting together and Chris told him to make sure he called him about something, "soon, please." Chris introduced his wife to a few people. They were very sweet at the table together. Lee barely ate his food because he kept getting up to talk to people. He's so personable.
Chris talked about never leaving the island. He seriously loves New York and can't imagine not being there. He apparently never leaves manhatten does unless he has to. He was telling someone that he goes to LA when they need him to, or if he has to work but otherwise, you couldn't pay him to leave. He has everything he needs there and he wouldn't ever live anywhere else. Sherman-- she's just ridiculously gorgeous. seriously, the pictures online of her do absolutely nothing for her. She's flawless in real life. They really seem to love each other. Chris was rubbing her back nonchalantly throughout the night.
Lee talked about some people they both apparently know which i didn't understand but... Lee eventually slid into the booth right beside Chris and were drinking and laughing together while Sherman sort of moved to talk with her circle of friends. They bumped hands a couple of times in that 'bro' way while talking about people they knew and laughed about private jokes. Chris had his arm around Lee's shoulder while they were talking at one point and Tom Fontana came over to talk to them. Merrily and I just kept looking at each other like, "we're sitting at a table with all these people. Pinch us!" The tables weren't together, but were less than a few inches apart. I could have handed Chris the salt, put it that way.
Eventually Lee leaned over and talked to us. He said something to Merrily which I don't remember, but then he looked at me and said something in pig latin, to which i said, "i know pig latin so you can't be stealthy with me." He laughed and Merrily laughed and he looked at me all defiantly and started really talking in pig latin, very fast. He's really good at it. He had this whole conversation with me about the woman he lost his virginity to over 20 years ago (who was sitting with him- not his girlfriend. She was gorgeous). I started laughing and told him that was more info than we needed to know and he laughed, to which the woman rolled her eyes at Lee and said, "i've heard it all before so it doesn't phase me anymore." Lee laughed.
At one point I was talking about the pictures on the wall and how cool they were (they were some really weird pictures of older celebrities like Frank Sinatra and Sonny Liston when they were children) and Chris overheard me. I saw him out of the corner of my eye turn around and look at them. He pointed out the sonny liston picture to his wife. That was kind of cool.
After the dinner, Chris posed for a couple of pictures and Lee did, too, although Lee never really stopped. Merrily had asked him if it would be alright to take a picture of him at the table and he looked at her like she was crazy. She said something like, "well I wanted to ask cause i didn't want to be rude." and he said something like, "what am i going to say, no? it's more rude to ask. Just do it." he didn't say it meanly, just jokingly. But merrily mentioned later that night that she wondered if he was offended that she asked.
At one point, Dean's friend had joined his table across the room and he yelled out, "where's that girl with the dolls?" I think Colleen probably had a heart attack. She had gotten him to sign the doll after the first play earlier that day, and he wanted to show his friend. So she took it out and he took it back to his table. Colleen went with him and they were all laughing. The dolls in person are so funny. they really do look just like each character.
Once everyone had finished eating and drinking, some of us got up to leave as everyone was heading out. Chris posed for a few more pictures and then said he really wanted to get home. So Sherman waited for him to finish up and they left together. Lee got up to say goodbye and he went around thanking everyone and hugging everyone goodbye. Everyone was really crowding him at that point and I was feeling a bit claustrophobic, so i stepped back to some empty space near and empty table. I was kind of bummed that I probably wouldn't get to say goodbye, but it was just great seeing them.
THEN.... he sort of got himself untangled from everyone and did the same thing i did, which was to move to an emptier space... right next to me. He turned to me and said, "so, did you have fun?" and i was like, "it was so great." i told him how amazing i thought it was that he took the time out to really be with everyone and i thought that was just so classy and kind. He then pulled me into a big hug... seriously, i'm not even kidding... and kissed my neck. he held my hand and said, "hey, i had a great time." he then asked if i was sticking around and i told him we were probably leaving since everyone else was. he said he was too but that he had to find his girlfriend first.
"!!! Rapture!!!" was all i could think.
He then left to find his girlfriend, who's just this 70 pound girl. i mean she's tiny. i could throw her across a football field she's so tiny. she's about 5 feet tall at the most. she was very sweet. i sat behind her at the second play and she seemed proud of Lee.
Merrily, Vicki(?) and I made our way outside, where were bumped into Mike Doyle as he was leaving. We didn't really talk, just told him thanks and that he did a great job and he thanked us and told us to have a good night.
The 3 of us just stood there in a sort of shock from everything that had just happened. We were on a cloud for most of the night. Merrily and I just kind of floated home. I was so wired, i wanted to go out and find a club or a bar and just stay out all night but my body said otherwise. we got in around 1am and fell asleep with smiles on our faces.
it was the best time.
My pictures came out horribly. I'm so disappointed. but thankfully there are plenty of people who got amazing photos, so you'll be able to see those. here are a few of my crappy ones:

DID WE? I do not remember that AT ALL. Wow. Did I say anything? It's so funny that I don't remember that. And I hadn't even been kissed by Lee yet. LOL (And yes, I am "Vicki". :) )

No, it was really quick right when merrily and i got outside. i think you were smoking a cigarette but i could be wrong. he just kind of breezed by us with some guy. i think i might have made a comment about how short he was. i think right after that, merrily went back inside to get a matchbook or something to remember the restaurant.
you'd better believe i'm remembering every inch of that night. i never want to forget!!!

He took pictures, talked to each of us individually, and made a point to really include everyone.
One of the many things I adore about him. He's so damn thoughtul.
And I am sure he was NOT offended by Merrily asking about taking his picture. He may have been tired (after two shows and tons of fan encounters) but I am sure he was not offended.
Great write up!

Date: 2010-05-06 04:40 pm (UTC)I was wondering why I didn't see you! I wasn't thinking when I ordered my ticket and only got a ticket for the second show, so that's why we didn't see each other. I was regretting that afterwards because I loved it and wished I had gone to both shows! I saw the pic of you and Lee - it's a great pic! I'm sorry that I missed you, but I know I'll see you next time. :)
