Hey, new Lee was on TV! Surprise!

CBS premiered the new drama "Doubt" on Wednesday night, and Lee appeared as a witness in one 3-minute courtroom scene. So, he didn't have much to work with, but he looked mighty fine doing it! (IMO his scene was the only thing worth watching in the episode, but your mileage may vary.) Here are some beautiful hi-def caps!

Lee! Looking to his right!

There's a new trailer out for the second season of Meloni's "Underground"! The show (which is about the pre-Civil War underground railroad) is set to premiere Wednesday, March 8 at 10/9c on WGN America. Here are a few screencaps of Meloni from the trailer, as well as the trailer itself. It looks like Season 2 is going to be just as good as Season 1!

Last night, Lee attended (and modeled in!) The Blue Jacket Fashion Show, a benefit held in NYC for the Prostrate Cancer Foundation. Getty Images has several photos of Lee from the event, but this one of him with his family really caught my eye:

lt blue lily yuk

Apparently, Lee and Yuko are expecting another baby! ([livejournal.com profile] tobyfan confirmed the news, via [livejournal.com profile] miltil) And, by the looks of things, in the not-too-distant future! Yay!

So, Chris is currently in New York City busy with pre-production duties for "Happy!," the SyFy pilot he is exec-producing/starring in. But apparently he's not so busy that he doesn't have time for visiting old friends! First, he went out to dinner with Lee, and then last night he posted this AWESOME pic to Instagram:

chris dean tom reunion

Now, I don't know what the three of them consumed talked about, but BOY was Meloni riled up afterward, because he got on Twitter and proceeded to tear Trump a new one. Which isn't something entirely new for Chris, because he's been tweeting anti-Trump things for months, but he really went after Trump (aka "a fucking dick") with a vengeance this time. He also started replying to hate-tweets from Trump's supporters, even telling one of them to "eat me u fucking idiot troll" (which actually made me laugh and laugh, because in my head all I could hear was Chris Keller going "fuck you, ya fuck").

THEN, the BEST part came, when he decided to post a shirtless mirror selfie to help promote the "Resist" hashtag:

It garnered so much attention, that "Chris Meloni" started trending nationwide. This morning, Mashable posted a story about the whole thing, complete with copies of some of Chris's more colorful tweets.

Whew! Maybe his scary, angry Stabler/Keller persona wasn't entirely acting!

I also hope the guy in charge of SyFy's programming isn't a Trump supporteer.

These are "new" pics of Chris and Lee with their agent Bill Butler on the set of Oz during the filming of "Cuts Like a Knife," taken from Bill's Instagram. There are couple of other behind-the-scenes pics floating around on the web that were taken this day, but not these two.

Well! This is certainly intriguing!

It was announced yesterday on Deadline that Chris Meloni will be starring in a pilot based on the graphic novel "Happy!" for the Syfy channel. He will also serve as one of the pilot's executive producers (alongside his longtime agent-turned-manager Bill Butler). From Deadline:

Underground star Chris Meloni is set as the male lead in Syfy pilot Happy!, based on Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson’s graphic novel.

Meloni will play Nick Sax. Once a rock star detective for a major metropolitan police force, Nick lost it all. Now he’s a broken, down-and-out hired killer who makes just enough money to support a steady diet of booze, drugs and sarcasm by carrying out hits for the mob. After one hit goes wrong, his life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue-winged horse. Meloni also will executive produce the pilot.

That's right, people. A flying blue unicorn:

happy meloni

Above graphic from Superhero Hype, which had the following official synopsis of "Happy!":

Meet Nick Sax, a corrupt, intoxicated ex-cop turned hit-man, adrift in a stinking twilight world of casual murder, soulless sex, eczema and betrayal. With a hit gone wrong, a bullet in his side, the cops and the mob on his tail, and a monstrous child killer in a Santa suit on the loose, Nick and his world will be changed forever this Christmas. By a tiny blue horse called Happy.

Oh. My. God. Booze! Drugs! Sarcasm! Murder! Soulless sex! Hallucinogenic fairy tale creatures!

(No, Meloni! When in doubt, leave your pants off!)

I think this is going to be totally awesome. Either awesomely good or awesomely bad, and frankly, I don't really care which one it is.

What the heck, internet? IMDB, Google alerts, and The Man (The Legend!) himself all neglected to inform me that Lee was guest-starring on an episode of NBC's "Blindspot" last night. Luckily, NBC is streaming the episode HERE on their website.

It was your typical good guys/bad guys TV stuff, but Lee had some deliciously snarky lines during his now-traditional interrogation scene...

And I am seriously indebted to the show's cameramen for their excellent HD close-up work...

Also, in case you were wondering, the cast of "Underground" attended New York's Comic Con last weekend, but Meloni was a no-show, even though he'd previously been announced as one of the attendees. During the panel Q&A, an audience member asked where he was, and they said that he was unable to be there due to Hurricane Matthew. Which... was in the south. And he was in Connecticut. But okay.

On Sunday night, Lee made a guest appearance on the season premiere of "Elementary." For those of you who wanted to watch and missed it (or whose DVR recording was messed up because the football game on the east coast ran long, grrrr), you can watch the episode on the CBS website.

I've posted several screencaps of Lee from the episode HERE at my LJ. To whet your appetite, this is an example (yeah, he's really rockin' the long-haired scruffy look lately):

Also, last week I posted HERE a picspam re-cap of Lee's recent appearance on the HBO comedy "High Maintenance." I knew it was going to be good when Lee's segment began with him in the shower *g*:

Enjoy!

On Wednesday night, Lee attended a special showing of his indie film "Desert Cathedral" in NYC. LJ's very own [livejournal.com profile] miltil and [livejournal.com profile] shabby86 were both there and met Lee, who was (as you'd expect) an absolute sweetheart. Here are a couple of photos of Lee taken by [livejournal.com profile] miltil, posted with her permission:

(^^ this one is his superhero pose :D)

By all accounts, the film is great (albeit sad, given its premise), and Lee is wonderful in it, with a lot of screentime. The movie is scheduled to be released on VOD next Tuesday, Sep. 27.

Lee mentioned to them that he will soon be working on the television show "Power," which is a crime drama on the STARZ channel about a NYC drug ring. (Rapper 50 cent is a producer.) He also said that he would be reprising his role on "Outcast" in another appearance. (YESSS)

And, just a reminder, Lee will also appear tonight on HBO's "High Maintenance" at 11:00 pm ET.

ALSO...

(there's been so much Lee news lately, poor Meloni has been neglected!)

Chris Meloni is currently filming Season 2 of "Underground" in Savannah, Georgia. And on October 9, HE is going to be in NYC to visit Lee appear at New York Comic Con! He is scheduled to be part of a panel discussion and audience Q&A session alongside other Underground cast members. Details are HERE. If you're a Melonian living in the NYC area, this is your opportunity to go check out teh ass of life a preview of the show's new season!

Remember how I speculated that Lee was going to be on FX's "The Strain"? As it turns out, he was on Sunday night's episode! He only had one brief scene (hmmm, that's becoming an alarming trend) toward the end of episode, but supposedly this is an arc, so keep your eye out for more!

Here is a sample of the screencaps I took. (Hey, what can I say? He was having a nice hair day.)

I must say, though, I found this show to be Gross with a capital G. I can handle spooky, scary stuff, but there were several scenes that I just skipped right through because they were just... UGH.

(ROMANTIC COMEDIES. Just a suggestion. He would be so, so good in those.)

ALSO, Lee will be making a guest appearance on HBO's new show "High Maintenance," which debuts this Friday, September 16. There's been some conflicting information on the net regarding exactly when his episode airs, but HBO's official press release indicates that he's in the show's second episode on September 23. Their episode description:

The Guy (Ben Sinclair) delivers to Leo (Lee Tergesen) and Gigi (Amy Ryan), a jaded couple throwing an intimate gathering for Leo’s birthday — an event marked by accusations, recriminations and a troubling revelation.

ALSO ALSO, Lee will be in the season premiere of "Elementary" on Sunday, October 2. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] miltil for the heads-up!) Here is the episode description, courtesy of Spoiler TV:

When a serial bomber becomes active again after being dormant for six years, Watson seeks help from Shinwell Johnson (Nelson Ellis), a former patient whose life she saved when she was a surgeon.

How much you want to bet Lee plays the serial bomber? *g*

So much Lee to look forward to!

There have been a lot of little things happening in the World of Lee lately, so I figured this was a good time for an update!

(1) First and foremost is exciting news about the movie "Desert Cathedral"! It is finally going to be released on VOD on September 27! (Keep in mind that the bulk of this movie was filmed way back in 2011.) I've been anxious to see this movie ever since I heard about Lee's nude scene how good it is!

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. As part of the build-up to the release (heh), Lee will be attending a special theatrical showing of the film in NYC on September 21! Afterwards, there will be a Q&A with Lee and the movie's writer/director, Travis Gutiérrez Senger. More information at this link, including a trailer with new footage of Lee that wasn't included in previous trailers:

If you're a peep living near NYC, go meet Lee!

Meloni's new movie "Marauders" is now available for viewing via On Demand! (Amazon, iTunes, etc.) It is also playing in theaters in a few select cities which are listed at the film's website HERE. Below is a production still from the movie of Chris with his fellow co-stars, Dave Bautista and Bruce Willis:

I saw a comment somewhere that said the movie should have been called "Bald Hard: Bald Harder With a Vengeance" and I LOL'd.

ANYWAY, Chris also gave a nice interview to Esquire to promote the film that can be read HERE.

Last Friday, Lee appeared in an episode of Cinemax's new series "Outcast," and he was AMAZING. Even more AMAZINGER than usual! I have recapped his performance via a mega pic spam HERE at my LJ. Come join the squee!

Cinemax posted this short behind-the-scenes video from Lee's episode in which the show's producer and lead actors sing his praises. WARNING: the vid includes brief glimpses of gore (which I intentionally left out of my pic spam, BTW).

I particuarly liked this quote from Patrick Fugit, who plays the main character: "Lee is awesome. He's very real and raw. Like a lot of actors that are very, very good, they have, like, a natural sort of mania and intensity. He's got it."

Hey, that's my favorite Lee! Real, raw, manic, and instense. *G*

Speaking of Patrick, he took a couple of beautiful photos of Lee taking a break between scenes and posted them to his Instagram:

I also found this amazing production still posted to Twitter:

Poor crazy!Toby. *pets him*

Whooops, wrong show!

Aaaand, if you're looking for a change of pace after this, I noticed that Lee's movie spoof "Tooken" was recently added to Netflix and is now available for streaming. Go watch Lee being goofy!

Two thumbs-up is not enough!

cm sag aftra

A couple of weeks ago, Chris sat down with an audience of SAG-AFTRA union members to discuss his career. SAG has just posted the entire interview to YouTube, which is an hour and 14 minutes in length. It is seriously the BEST interview I've ever seen/heard him do, BY FAR. He tells one story after another and is SO at ease, and animated, and happy, and funny, it's almost as if he was... well, no I'm sure he wasn't, but... let's just say that he's VERY relaxed. He even sings. Twice!

The interview concentrates more on how he became an actor and how he approaches acting, rather than a standard career retrospective per se, so many of the stories he told were new (to me, anyway). There was some talk of Oz, but not a lot, and no leeloni. But when you get a chance, WATCH THIS, because he's simply delightful.

News-wise, he said he's filming his new, untitled movie with Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn in July in Hawaii, and then will start filming Season 2 of "Underground." He also confirmed that he will be taking part in Season 2 of Netflix's "Wet Hot American Summer" sequel.

lee outcast

Lee's episode of "Outcast" is still happening after all! It will air this Friday (June 17) at 10:00 pm ET on Cinemax. Here is the new promo for the episode, with Lee acting eerily similar to The Joker (whether it's the Jack Nicholson or Heath Ledger version is up for discussion):

ALSO, CBS aired a commerical for "Equity" last night during the Tony Awards! It was a shortened version of the offical trailer that I posted HERE, so no new footage. BUT, it indicated at the end that not only would it open July 29 in NYC and LA, but also "everywhere" on August 26. This (and the fact that Sony Pictures Classics was willing to shell out the money to promote it during the Tonys) implies that the movie will be getting more than just the limited-release/direct-to-video/on-demand routine. Which is encouraging to those who actually might want to watch a movie with Lee, unlike, say, Desert Cathedral, which just basically disappeared.
